About International Women's Day
International Women's Day (8th, March) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world, honoring all women who are leading the global fight for Women's rights.
This date is commemorated at the United Nations and also it is designated in many countries as a national holiday.
In accordance with a declaration by the Socialist Party of America, the first National Woman's Day was observed across the United States on 28th February. In 1913, it was decided to transfer IWD to 8th March , and it has been celebrated on that day ever since. The day was only recognized by the United Nations in 1975.
China began to commemorate International Women's Day in 1922. The first mass commemoration was held in Guangzhou in 1924. In December 1949, the Central People's Government Administration Council formally announced for the Women's Day on 8th March

What colors symbolize International Women's Day?
Green and purple are the colors of Women's Day. Purple represents justice and dignity. Green represent hope. Color originated in 1908 in the Social and political union of women in Britain. The colors originated from the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the UK in 1908.

15,000 women marched in New York City on March 8th 1908. They marched to demand better pay, shorter work hours, and the right to vote, putting up a sign of “bread and roses”.
